Treat yourself to a Heavenly Homemade Milk Bath and chase those winter blues away. Milk baths are not a new invention, they have been used for centuries and for good reasons. They not only relax, but ease and erase the wrath of winter, the dry, flaky skin and aching bones and muscles. A simple and effective way to pamper and improve your body.
This basic recipe for Heavenly Homemade Milk Bath works very well by itself or you can add one of the options below. And with so many calming and lovely fragrances of the essential oils to choose from, lavender, mint, chamomile and more , to enhance the experience, it may be difficult deciding which to select.
Basic Heavenly Homemade Milk Bath Recipe:
2 cups Powdered Milk – moisturizes and soothes
½ cup baking soda – acts as a skin softener
½ cup cornstarch – to relieve dry, itchy skin caused by sunburn, eczema or psoriasis
Combine the powdered milk, baking soda and cornstarch in a large glass container.
Put the lid on and shake the jar until the powders are completely mixed.
Any of the following can be added to the basic Recipe..
1/2 to 1 cup Epsom Salt – detoxification and magnesium boost.
1/2 cup Sea Salt – pain relief, ease muscular and joint aches in the body, relieves stress and tension.
1 cup Oatmeal – calms and softens skin, reduces inflammation, anti aging.
1/2 cup green or black tea leaves – relieves stress and tension.
Completely mix any of the above into the basic recipe.
Before using, place the mixture into a mesh bag to keep it contained, this makes a huge difference when cleaning the tub afterwards.
Essential oils – to calm, relax, revitalize & adds a lovely heavenly scent.
If using essential oils…… mix dry ingredients together, add 10-20 drops of the essential oil, keeping in mind that it will be diluted in the bath tub, stir well.
Add the mixture to your jar and allow to sit at least 24 hours before using, to let the ingredients completely combine.
To use Heavenly Homemade Milk Bath, pour about 1/2 – 1 cup in your bath under hot running water, you can use more or less, it’s really up to you. If using a mesh bag, just place the bag into the bath and swirl around a bit to distribute the goodness.
Store in a cool, dark place, the mixture should last at least 2-3 months.
